Startech transforms the Range Rover into a pickup

Startech LR 1

We’d never imagine that there would be Range Rover pickup but the guys from German tuning company Startech acutally made it possible as they recently previewed their creation ahead of its premiere at the 2015 Auto Shanghai.

Now looking more like a utilitarian pickup with a rather short bed, the red Range Rover gets wider fenders, large custom 23-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile tires along with carbon fiber trim all around.

Don’t expect to be able to lug around large or lengthy cargo as its bed only measures 1,100mm long but the company did state that opening the tailgate gives an additional 600mm of cargo space.

Inside, the seats, center glovebox/armrest and door trim get a black diamond-quilted pattern that is accented with red stitching. The panoramic sunroof is retained while a black headlining has been applied on the pickup’s ceiling.

Startech did away with the stock suspension and fitted it with an adjustable system that can lower the pickup’s ride height by 30mm. The top of the range 5.0-liter supercharged V8 is now capable of generating 526 PS as the tuning company installed an aftermarket exhaust system that provided an additional 16 PS. It can blast from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds before reaching its limited top speed of 250 km/h.

In addition, Startech also said that all other engine variants will also be available for the pickup though they have yet to state their updated power outputs.

It will be making its world debut at the 2015 Auto Shanghai next week.
